Top 5 Shoe Must Haves–Fall 2008

September 26th, 2008 by crystal
When talking about shoe trends for Fall 2008, it’s not so simple as just saying, “boots”. Shoe trends for this season are much more specific and unique than they have been in previous Fall seasons.
Heels are definitely a necessity. While ballet flats are practical and the only option for some outfits, they are definitely not the trend they were last Fall. You can still get away with them for sure, but expect to wear heels if you’re at all trend conscious.
The two trends where you can forget the heel are the Fringe Boot and the Riding Boot. Riding Boots are inherently flat. Fringe Boots look great with or without heels.
As in Top 10 Must Haves–Fall 2008 Fashion, I’ll show each trend with an inspiration picture followed with one or more reasonably priced options clickable for more information, more images, etc.

Fringe Boots

Minnetonka - Calf Hi Fringe Boot (Brown Suede) - Footwear

The Fringe Boot is generally moccasin style, but can be more feminine by adding a heel. If you really embrace this style, look for fringe in wardrobe pieces, too.

Purple Pumps

Purple is by far the top Must-Have color for this Fall season. And, the purple pump is the ultimate expression of your Fall style.

Shown: Bottega Veneta (Style.com), Charlotte Russe ($26.99), Charlotte Russe ($22.99), Forever 21 ($22.80)

Oxford Booties

While the bootie itself is popular this season, the ultimate and a Must-Have is the lace up Oxford. If you have any bootie, you need to have this classically styled bootie.

Shown: Matthew Williamson (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week), Forever 21 ($22.80), Charlotte Russe ($26.99), Target ($26.99)

For more on the Bootie (is there a good way to say that?), read Fall 2008 Fashion Trend–Booties, Boot Trends for Fall 2008 or Fall 2008 Fashion Trend–Purple Shoes.

Riding Boots

Perfectly suited for the ‘Western’ trend or just with tights or skinny jeans, the riding boot is another classic. Thus, it might be worthwhile to splurge a little and get a boot that will last for more than just this season.

Shown: Dolce & Gabbana (Style.com), Charlotte Russe ($44.99), Theory ($475), Frye ($358)

For more on the Riding Boot, read Fall 2008 Fashion Trend–Western or Boot Trends for Fall 2008.

Over the Knee Boot

Perfect for tights, skinny jeans, or by themselves. Because these aren’t so classic, I’m determined to find a pair that’s both trendy and affordable. The Steve Madden ones might work.

Shown: Badgley Mischka (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week), Urban Outfitters ($125), Colin Stuart ($99), Steve Madden ($99)

Which will you be wearing this Fall? Is there a certain pair that you just can’t live without?
