Top 10 Spring 2010 Fashion Trends

It’s that time again. Time to sort through all we’ve seen from our Fashion Distractions and compare that with the Spring collections popping up in stores. Time to compile a list of the top Spring 2010 fashion trends.
What follows is the Ssasy Chic forecast for the top fashion trends of Spring 2010.
Labeled the top color of 2010 by Pantone, turquoise was a top choice on the Spring 2010 runways (followed by red) and is popping up in store windows this Spring.
Skirts and shorts are short, short, short this Spring! To be ultra daring and on-trend, go for super short skirts with side slits or super short shorts that angle up and slit to the hipbone. Yikes!
Tie-dye and watercolor prints were popular on the runways. The styles these prints are being featured on are far from bohemian, though. Rather, they make sophisticated cocktail dresses look like wearable works of art.
Sequins, beads, glitter and shine were in almost every collection. Typically a Winter trend, sparkle has made its way to warmer pieces this Spring.
Jumpsuits were quite popular on the runways last Spring and Summer, but they didn’t quite make it to the street. This Spring, expect to see jumpsuits on an everyday kind of basis. They’ll be everywhere!
Draping seems to be the most featured design for cocktail dresses this Spring. Often done asymmetrically at the hip and the shoulder, draping helps to create lines that are flattering and more versatile for different body types.
Like the tie-dye trend, tribal prints are not being incorporated into tribal styles. Rather, they’re appearing on cocktail dresses, trendy blouses and draped skirts. It’s the unexpected uses of this print that will make it so popular and worn by so many.
Sheer, often nude fabrics were some of the most popular among designers. Because of the nude shades, the see-through sheer often goes unnoticed. Thus, the cuts, ruffles and other details were much more subtle and elegant. Not sure if sheer is right for you? Remember you don’t have to bare all!
Slim lines and sleek styles on pieces that almost look work-out ready were the main feature from some of our favorite designers. What does this mean for everyday wear? Go for a more industrial, fitted look…not a slouchy sweat pants one.
Ahh…they’re back for another season. The ultra-feminine, sweet and sexy ruffled hemlines, necklines and details. This season, ruffles are a bit more overdone than they have been before. So, go all out!

Wouldn’t you get arrested wearing clothes that clearly show everything through them? Don’t get me wrong, I’d dress like that in a heartbeat if for no other reason than the sake of feeling cooler temperature-wise in Summer, but I definitely don’t want to go to jail or find myself in court due to indecent exposure.
