Tights for Fall 2008
Textured
Textured tights can be simple with a slight rib or complex with an intricate lace pattern. Wear more intricate tights with less intricate outfits. And, vice versa. Fishnets and lace tights are the perfect accompaniment to a tall pair of boots.
Shown: Lace Stirrup Leggings ($16.99), Pointelle Knit Tights ($6.99), Fishnet Tights ($4.99), Open Knit Chevron Tights ($12.50), Pinstripe Floral Tights ($14.00), Trellis Tights ($14.00)
Footless
Wear footless tights with a classic pointy-toed stiletto or, if the weather’s warmer, a fun strappy sandal. Footless tights help in achieving the super-layered look because they look like a separate piece of clothing more than footed tights do.
Shown: Sweater Footless Tights ($6.99), Cropped Button Leggings ($26.50), Footless Tights ($24.00)
Stirrup
Stirrup leggings remind me so much of the 80′s. But, I guess the whole leggings trend is reminiscent of that decade!
Shown: Stirrup Leggings ($8.99), Stirrup Leggings ($24.00), Ballet Leggings ($34.00)
Leather/Vinyl
To achieve the popular rocker chic look, try leather or vinyl leggings. Boots can get tricky here as you need to match the sheen and hue or make sure your tights and boots are completely different colors.
Shown: Faux Leather Leggings ($12.99), Rubber Leggings ($88.00), Coated Leggings ($38.00)
Legwarmers
I LOVE legwarmers! I wore them when I was a little girl in the 80′s and can’t wait until this trend starts to take off.
Shown: Over-the-Knee Legwarmers ($8.99), Ribbed Knit Legwarmers ($6.99), Legwarmers ($16.00)
Colored
Colored tights add a splash of brightness to a neutral outfit. I love the idea of working purple into your outfit this way.
Shown: Colored Footless Tights ($4.99), Opaque Tights ($12.50), Opaque Tights ($12.00)
Patterned
Wear patterned tights with a solid outfit. Or, if you’re feeling daring, mix patterns. Just be careful not to go too crazy! You don’t want to make your friends dizzy every time they look at you!
Shown: Polka Dot Tights ($48.00), Two Tone Tights ($14.00), Plaid Tights ($14.00)
Where to Shop
Pretty much every store is carrying tights this season. For super cheap tights, try Charlotte Russe and Forever 21. For the most variety, try Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom. And, for the most unique tights, try American Apparel.
Your Thoughts?
Do you see any you like? Which style will you be wearing this Fall/Winter? What do you think of legwarmers? Are they back?

Ooh, I like this post! I’m a huge fan of tights. I’m thinking about trying some textured ones, but maybe very subtle like the third one. Great post, by the way! <3

Today was the first day cool enough to wear my new tights…a pair of purple ribbed tights from Urban Outfitters. They were a huge success! I like the textured ones that are a little thicker…you feel like you’re wearing pants, you’re so warm!
Thanks Celeste! I hope you find the perfect pair(s)!
