Spring 2009 Trend: Feathers
Ways to Wear Feathers this Spring
Feather Jewelry
You can find feathers on pretty much any type of jewelry. Designers are using feathers on earrings, bracelets and necklaces in a variety of ways. Some designs are quite structured and add other materials such as metal. Others just feature the feather itself. And, some designs use no feather at all. Metal earrings in the shape of feathers are a great example of this.
Feather Hair Accessories
Feather barrettes, headbands and clips are appearing in tons of trendy stores. The designs of these pieces vary from structured and vintage looking to free-form and bohemian looking. Urban Outfitters has perhaps the largest selection of feather hair accessories. They call many of their pieces ‘fascinators’ after the elaborate hair pieces worn to weddings and horse races in the UK.
Feather Clothing
Feathers are also being used to adorn clothing. Most pieces use feathers as a hem or neck line, but some feature feathers all over the piece.

i’m all for the feather accessories…a hair clip here, an earring there, but wearing an entire feather ensemble would make me feel a bit peacockish. cheers to those who can pull it off though!

Normally I wouldn’t wear feathers, just not my style. But I totally love the outfit with the orange dress - it is fabulous and looks so good with tanned skin. Super fresh and sexy.
