Monday Fashion Spot: Matthew Williamson Fall 2009
March 23rd, 2009 by crystal
The recession did not mute Matthew Williamson’s style. His designs for Fall 2009 were as bright and embellished as they usually are. Where we’ve seen neutrals, blacks and jewel tones from other designers, Williamson’s palette offered the same but with pops of neon-like accents.
Fur was a huge player in his outfits. He went for oversized cocoon coats and enormously fluffy scarves in patterned and colored furs.
Pieces were also embellished with intricate bead-work and metallic materials. It will be really easy, and somewhat necessary, to keep accessories to a minimum with these designs.
Matthew Williamson Rundown:
bright colors
belted layers
mixed fabrics
fur
beads
geometric prints
built-out shoulders
space-age style

Matthew Williamson for H&M
Can’t wait until next Fall and/or want a cheaper version of Matthew Williamson’s amazing designs? His line for H&M comes out at the end of April and is fantastic! There are some very colorful pieces in his typical bohemian style. He’s also designed an amazing blue suit similar to one from his Spring 2009 line. Many of his H&M pieces have peacock accents which are proving to be very popular this season.
Here are a few preview images of what will be offered.
