Fashion Distraction :: Versace Spring 2010
Donatella Versace’s Spring 2010 collection was clearly designed for a youthful audience. Inspired by Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, many of the pieces featured fabric printed with clocks, playing cards and rabbits. Hemlines were shorter, colors were brighter, studs and embellishments adorned even the chiffon evening gowns and plastic was a choice fabric.
Perhaps because of her intended audience, Versace’s Spring 2010 line was remarkably lighter and airier than previous collections. Bright pastels, chiffons and sheers replaced the heavy blacks and grays of seasons past. Even the makeup was lighter. However, these details did not take away the edginess we’ve come to associate with Versace. Studs, chain mail and other metallic details kept the collection edgy and daring.

What’s Wearable?
The body-con styles, suits, prints and bright colors are all elements that can be taken from this collection and worn in real life.
What helps to define the season?
The rock style, sportiness, short hemlines and overall daring nature of the collection are resonant with other collections we’ve seen for Spring 2010.
Thoughts?
Though not my personal style, I’m fond of the short hemlines and the geometric prints in this collection.
What do you think?
