Fashion Distraction :: Proenza Schouler Spring 2010

Inspired by their surfing and skating days, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough created a line that is youthful, urban and ready for the street.
Many of the pieces featured a focus on the low hip, something not being done by other designers right now. Hems were short and cuts were daring. And, there was something completely casual about the entire line. Even the cocktail dresses and blazer outfits seemed dressed down in a nonchalant and entirely sophisticated kind of way.

Things to take away

Again, we’re seeing short hemlines, bright colors and embellishments. For the last few seasons, designs have been muted to reflect the state of the economy and present a classic, ‘you can wear this for more than just one season’ mentality. Designers aren’t afraid anymore and are busting out of that rut with outrageous, bright and daring styles.

Thoughts?

I really like the tie-dye prints that look like fish scales. However fun they are to look at though, I don’t know how likely I’d be to actually wear one.
What do you think?
