Fall 2009 Trend :: Studs

September 17th, 2009 by crystal
Studs are on everything this Fall. To be quite honest, this hasn’t been a style that’s jumped out and grabbed me. Most of the ads and runway examples I’ve seen have taken the style to the rocker chic extreme. Cute, but not wearable for most personal styles.
But, like any style or trend, studs can be worn in many different ways.

Here is a guide to the stud trend: examples of pieces in different categories and how to wear studs from subtle to all-out rocker chic.

How To Wear Studded Pieces

Subtle Studded Style

Fall 2009 Stud TrendYou don’t have to go all-out rocker chic to wear studs. If you have a more conservative and/or feminine style, you might think studs just won’t work. However, studs can look quite amazing when added as an accessory to your wardrobe. Take a cue from Carrie and wear a studded belt with a floral dress. Or, why not wear a pair of studded ankle boots or booties with a full-skirt? It might surprise you how amazing the contrast is!

Edgy Studded Style

Say your style is somewhere in between. Not super feminine, not quite rocker chic. The studded trend is perfect for you. You can wear pretty much any piece (or even 2) to create an edgier version of your outfit. For example, wear a pair of studded heels or boots with your usual skinny jeans outfit to add an edgy vibe. Or, add a studded belt to your little black dress the next time you go out on the town. Adding a studded piece will update your usual look and give you a hint of that independent, bad-girl vibe that’s so popular right now.

Rocker Chic

If you want to go all out, you definitely need a studded leather jacket, tall studded boots and pretty much everything else you can find that’s studded. This doesn’t mean you wear them all at once. It does mean you wear at least 2 studded pieces and pair them with an equally edgy ensemble. Picture ripped tights, a distressed tunic, a studded leather motorcycle jacket and studded ankle boots.

What do you think? Can you wear studs this season? Which is your style? Are you more of a Carrie or a full-on Rocker?

    I noticed that studs were making a very small comeback a few months ago, but I think the death of Michael Jackson is subconsciously making this trend huge. And I’m totally fine with that. The Dolce Vita shoes are INSANE
