Fall 2008 Fashion Trend–2-Fer Dresses

September 23rd, 2008 by crystal

2-Fer dresses (aka Two-Fer dresses, aka Two-Tone Dresses, aka Colorblock Dresses, etc…) haven’t really been labeled as a trend for this Fall, but I keep seeing them everywhere and they’re definitely trendy. Major labels are selling them and they were even seen on the runways. Basically, designers are combining the high-waisted skirt with blousy top style that we’ve been wearing for a while now.

What is a 2-Fer Dress?

Meant to look like two separate pieces, it appears to be a suit skirt paired with a trendy top. This is what makes the 2-fer so genius. It can be worn to the office with hose, heels, and a jacket. Then, for happy hour, dinner or a night out, it can be worn with a cuter heel, no hose, and no jacket. Take off the jacket and you’re ready for a night on the town!

2-Fer Style

One thing I’ve noticed is that all 2-fer dresses incorporate the trendiest blouse styles. One-shoulder, asymmetrical tops, ruffled tops, and bows are the main top of choice for a 2-fer dress.
Not all 2-fers are made for office wear. Some are party-worthy. Straying away from the suit skirt totally changes the look. A fuller skirt, metallic fabric, or wider belt can totally change this look from conservative to flirty!
