Fashion Distraction: Givenchy Fall 2009

Givenchy Fall 2009

Riccardo Tisci’s Fall 2009 collection drew inspiration from the sensuality of the 80′s and animal strength. Pointy bras, sequined shoulder pads, studded gowns, feathers, fur, leather all anointed the ultra feminine draping, cinched waists and origami pleats in his designs. Backstage, Tisci said, “I wanted to show lots of different shapes for all kinds of women”. This might have been more effective had the models actually been different shapes. But, such is the nature of the runway.

Tisci’s collection was criticized for being too diverse. What do you think? Should he have focused more?
