Fashion Distraction: Haider Ackermann Fall 2009
This is the last Fall 2009 Fashion Distraction since Spring 2010 Fashion Week starts THIS WEEK!! So excited…
Beginning next Monday, we’ll start looking at what’s in store for next Spring. I know it’s far away, but that’s what Fashion Distraction is all about!
For now, let’s stay focused on what’s in store for us over the next few months.
When I was writing about Military Jackets last week, I came across Haider Ackermann’s Fall 2009 collection. I’ve heard of Haider Ackermann before, but hadn’t spent time absorbing his work. His most recent collection really intrigues me.
The first think I noticed about Haider Ackermann’s style is his signature draping. His is much less haphazard than most, with drapes placed to accentuate body shape to the fullest. I was also drawn to the way he paired fitted leather jackets with silky, flowing gowns. The contrast of the two fabrics and styles is a great, stylish merger. Nicole Phelps at style.com calls this collection Ackermann’s ‘arrival’. I’d have to agree. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for next Spring.

Your thoughts? Do you like the draping? What style inspiration do you take from this collection?

The draping is really interesting and beautiful in that collection. I love few of the outfits!
