Top 5 Nail Colors for Winter
For the most recent trends, see Top 4 Nail Colors for Winter 2011 OR Spring 2011 Nail Color Trends
Black
Yes, black nails are still in. Not only are they in, they’re basically becoming the fall back color for most ladies. In between manicures, it’s easy to just swipe a coat of black polish on to get you by ’til your next appointment.
Green
Greens of all shades are popular this Fall. Though it’s true that Fall nail trends are typically dark, light green shades are the exception this season. Light jades, primary greens and deep emeralds are all a go.
Navy
Stylists have been predicting that blue polish is the new black for some time. The problem is, the blue polishes that came out in the past were not dark enough to even be considered in the same category. This season, things are different. The navy polishes that we’re seeing might just give black a run for its money.
Ruby
It’s safe to say jewel tones in general are a trend this season. Sapphire, emerald and ruby hues are all super stylish especially when they’re taken a hue darker.
Metallic
Metallic polishes in silver, gold, bronze and copper are a fun way to add some glitzy glam to your Winter wardrobe. These shades are perfect for all of your holiday parties!
Which color will you be wearing this season?

oOOoo! I have all of the colors except that beautiful bronze or copper. That looks pretty.

I like the navy a lot. I usually wear a deep purple that’s almost black but not quite (not as harsh as full on black), but I might have to give the navy a try now to switch things up.
The only one I’m not fond of is the green. The dark green is okay since it’s almost black, but I guess I just don’t really like pastels for nails. It seems little girlish to me. So I vote no on the light green.

Sapphire, ruby, navy, and black all appeal to me this season. But my nails are squared off–time to round them!

Does anyone think that black polish on toenails is unprofessional for doctors or lawyers? I wear nude nail polish, but I love Chanel’s Vendetta (reddish black) on my toes. Will my clients think it’s too much? I wear open-toed heels at work and NEVER have chipped polish. Feedback?

I think it’s totally fine! You just want to make sure your nails are short and, like you said, chip-free.
Go for it!

I’m not sure about the green. Are you sure it wouldn’t look like you have a fungus or moss growing on your fingernails?

Angie – I definitely thought the same thing. Turns out, it just looks fun and daring. Not moldy at all! Give it a try.
