Boots for Spring

February 3rd, 2010 by crystal
Think boots are just a necessity for your Fall/Winter wardrobe? Think again!

Boots are an essential addition to your Spring wardrobe. Not only are Spring boot styles super cute this season, they’re also a great way to transition your look from Winter to Spring.

Here are a few of the hottest boots this Spring.

Boots for Spring 2010

This Spring, stash your thigh high black leather boots and go for a lighter, softer pair in grey or camel suede.

Ankle

Wear your ankle boots with a Spring dress and tights. Or, as the temperatures rise, ditch the tights. For more on how to wear ankle boots, check out this post.

Cowboy

Cowboy boots were big last Fall, but they are bigger than ever this Spring. At most stores, they top the list of Spring arrivals and are available in a variety of heights, styles and colors. Wear your cowboy boots with leggings, a dress or skinny jeans. For more on how to wear cowboy boots, check out this post.

Lace Up

Kind of a new trend this Spring, the lace up boot is an interesting way to mix your boot wearing habits up a bit. Lace up boots can be super feminine or somewhat androgynous. Depending on the style you find, you can wear them with shorts, dresses, leggings or skinny jeans.

Thoughts?

I’m definitely craving a pair of grey suede ankle boots, I’ll for sure be wearing my cowboy boots and that first pair of lace up boots has ‘Crystal’ written all over it.
What do you think? Will you be wearing boots this Spring?

Panty War! The Lacie vs. Hanky Panky

February 2nd, 2010 by crystal
Lacie Versus Hanky Panky

Since last Summer, the Lacie and the Hanky Panky have been waging a full on panty war. After holding a pretty secure reign as the must-have panty, Hanky Panky’s pedestal began to waver when Victoria’s Secret entered the arena.

Both panties are one-size fits all, made of stretchy lace and available in a myriad of colors. So, what’s the difference? First of all, price. You can rarely find Hanky Pankys under $15 (even at sample sales). I’ve seen the Lacie as low as $8–a pretty big difference. Second, the texture of the lace is quite different. The Lacie is thinner. This may not make it stand up as long as the Hanky Panky.

There’s also, believe it or not, a huge difference in the way these two panties fit. Hanky Pankies are baggy on me. They sag and are definitely not no-show or invisible under clothing. The Lacie, however, fits perfectly. No panty line, no bunching, no uncomfortable pinching…pretty much perfect. But, I’ve heard different things from different people. How do these two panties fit you?

I’m a Lacie fan.

Fashion Distraction :: Alexander Wang Spring 2010

February 1st, 2010 by crystal
Spring 2010 Fashion

It makes me feel a little old when ‘classic’ refers to styles of the 1980’s. Alexander Wang is a mere babe, though. His Spring 2010 collection is an ode to the All-American girl, the Varsity girl, the college co-ed. Sportswear inspired, Wang took familiar pieces like chinos and tighty whities and reworked them into amazing pieces that look as though they were always meant to be worn in his vision. Surprising elements like classic (there we go again) gray sweatshirts, khakis, basic blue denim, knee high socks and basic sports bras were incorporated into amazing new styles.

Key Trends from the Alexander Wang Spring 2010 Collection

To Take Away…

Sportswear, sleek lines and sheer fabrics are all trends we’ve seen different iterations of from other designers. Definitely trends for Spring 2010.

Thoughts

What I take from this collection more than anything else is the inspiration to rethink the pieces I have hanging in my closet. I feel challenged to stylize that gray sweatshirt I thought was only for lounging around the house or the well-worn khakis I was saving for house painting.
What do you think?
