Nepali, by TDM Design, has offered Ssasy Chic the opportunity to host an amazing contest!
TDM Design is an amazing company that has been featured on Ssasy Chic in the past. Each scarf is hand-crafted by a Nepalese woman who is paid an above market salary and is given access to education and healthcare. In this world of sweatshops and outsourcing, it’s rare to find companies that offer quality products and make the world a better place at the same time. TDM Design does both.
Nepali is including Ssasy Chic readers in a contest to design your own scarf!
The winner will have their scarf created by Nepali as per their specifications and sent to them. The winner and the winning scarf will be featured here, on Ssasy Chic.
Contest description and rules from Nepali:
Your readers can draw or photoshop or create their scarf any way that is electronically transferable so we can read their instructions. They cannot copy an existing design directly but can made variations on an existing design. They can use our color chart to indicate their color selections on their scarves.
The scarf can be created from any of the natural fiber content that we use in our high quality scarves at Nepali by TDM.
1. Cashmere
2. Silk Chiffon
3. Cashmere/Silk blend
4. Bamboo
5. Cashmere/Bamboo Blend
Scarves can be designed by using style, dyeing techniques, weaving techniques and/or print designs. Length and width needs to be specified on the design.
All designs must be submitted by December 10, 2009. If you are interested in entering the contest, email me and let me know!

Carlos Miele’s Spring 2010 collection featured his usual goddess gowns, but stood apart with a series of separates that are much more accessible for those of us who don’t spend evenings being photographed on red carpets.
Most of the outfits were quite wearable. The structured boleros, the blouses, the tulip skirts and the pleated pants were all pieces that will most definitely grace the workplace next Spring. The only exception was the too short shorts. Again, we’re seeing short suits for Spring 2010 work-wear. But the length of these hemlines makes them hardly appropriate. Perhaps for resort wear, but not for the typical office.
Key Trends from Carlos Miele’s Spring 2010 Collection
bold colors
bold shoulders
tulip skirts
pleated pants
one-shoulder tops and dresses
sheer
black
sparkles
body-con dresses
goddess dresses
boleros
snake skin prints
watercolor prints
What can we take away?
Tulip skirts, pleated pants and bold shoulders will all be around for at least another season. Sheer, flowing fabrics paired with very tailored separates mix the sporty and feminine styles that are defining Spring 2010.
What do you think?
I’m a huge fan of the sheer tops paired with the tight, tailored shorts and skirts. But, I don’t think those looks are very practical for most occasions. As always, Carlos Miele’s red carpet worthy dresses are beautiful, goddess-like and ultra feminine. I love it!
Do you like the styles? How wearable do you think they are?

To wear this Fall’s hottest colors and not look like Elvira, follow these simple steps.
Length:
It’s always a girl’s goal to grow her nails long. The desire to have long, elegant nails is why we cry ‘oh, I broke a nail’ and mourn the loss of our broken nails. If you are going to wear a dark Fall polish, you’ll have to get out the clippers and say goodbye to your long nails.
Long dark nails have a tendency to look vampish and gothic. Unless that is what you’re going for, trim your nails to no longer than just beyond the finger–when you look at the pads of your fingers, you should see just the tip of your nails.
Shape:
Rounded nails were the shape of choice in the 80’s and early 90’s. The most stylish shape has been square or square with rounded edges for quite some time. Until now. The turn back to more natural looks (full eyebrows, subtle makeup, tinted moisturizers) has brought rounded nails back as well.
This is especially true when wearing dark polish colors. Square shaped nails can look harsh when painted with a deep color. And, since your nails are shorter when you wear dark colors, short square shaped nails have a tendency to make your nails look like they’ve been bitten to the quick.
For a more elegant look, round the edges of your nails.

As the temperature gets colder, our nails typically get darker. Nail trends for this Fall are no exception. The top 5 nail colors this season are dark, sparkly and attention getting!
Black
Yes, black nails are still in. Not only are they in, they’re basically becoming the fall back color for most ladies. In between manicures, it’s easy to just swipe a coat of black polish on to get you by ’til your next appointment.
Green
Greens of all shades are popular this Fall. Though it’s true that Fall nail trends are typically dark, light green shades are the exception this season. Light jades, primary greens and deep emeralds are all a go.
Navy
Stylists have been predicting that blue polish is the new black for some time. The problem is, the blue polishes that came out in the past were not dark enough to even be considered in the same category. This season, things are different. The navy polishes that we’re seeing might just give black a run for its money.
Ruby
It’s safe to say jewel tones in general are a trend this season. Sapphire, emerald and ruby hues are all super stylish especially when they’re taken a hue darker.
Metallic
Metallic polishes in silver, gold, bronze and copper are a fun way to add some glitzy glam to your Winter wardrobe. These shades are perfect for all of your holiday parties!
Which color will you be wearing this season?
